성수동은 산업의 흔적과 문화적 재생이 공존하는, 서울에서도 특별한 에너지를 느낄 수 있는 지역입니다. 이곳에 제안한 레드불 본사는 브랜드가 지닌 젊음과 도전정신을 수직적 매스와 다이아그리드 구조를 통해 새로운 도시 풍경을 구현합니다. 특히 강렬한 다이아그리드 파사드는 역동성과 긴장감을 드러내며, 브랜드의 정체성을 각인시킵니다.
이 프로젝트는 성수동을 찾는 다양한 사람들에게 브랜드 경험과 새로운 도시 문화를 제공하는 공간으로 기능합니다. 저층부는 도시와 자연스럽게 소통하는 개방적인 문화 놀이터로 계획하였으며, 상층부는 크리에이티브 랩과 루프탑 클럽을 배치해 창의적 작업과 소셜 허브의 기능을 결합하였습니다. 도전, 속도, 젊음을 상징하는 레드불의 에너지를 통해 성수동에 새로운 활력을 불어넣고자 합니다.
Seongsu-dong is an area in Seoul where you can feel a special energy, where traces of industry and cultural regeneration coexist. The proposed Red Bull headquarters here embodies the brand’s youth and spirit of challenge through vertical mass and diagrid structures, creating a new urban landscape. In particular, the intense diagrid façade reveals dynamism and tension, imprinting the brand’s identity.
This project functions as a space that provides brand experience and new urban culture to various people visiting Seongsu-dong. The lower floors are planned as an open cultural playground that naturally communicates with the city, while the upper floors feature a creative lab and rooftop club, combining the functions of creative work and a social hub. Through the energy of Red Bull, which symbolizes challenge, speed, and youth, we aim to inject new vitality into Seongsu-dong.
Site
성수동은 서울에서 가장 빠르게 변화하고 있는 지역 중 하나입니다. 과거에는 산업지구였지만, 최근에는 창의적 문화와 건축 실험의 중심지로 떠오르면서 레드불과 같은 브랜드를 끌어들이고 있습니다.
The site is in Seongsu-dong, one of Seoul’s fastest-transforming districts. Formerly an industrial area, it is now emerging as a center for creative culture and architectural experimentation, attracting brands like RedBull.
이 사진들은 대상 부지 주변의 맥락을 보여주며, 저층 건물과 상업·주거 혼합 용도, 그리고 좁은 골목길이 특징적입니다. 이러한 기존 도시 환경을 고려하여 건물의 매스 형성과 저층 공간 설계를 하였습니다.
The photographs illustrate the surrounding context of the site, characterized by low-rise buildings, mixed commercial use, and narrow alleys. This existing urban condition informs the project’s massing and ground-level design strategies.

The model effectively illustrates the evolving urban landscape of Seongsu, including its density, scale, and block composition. These physical conditions were reflected in developing the initial massing and spatial strategies.
사이트는 뛰어난 도시 연결성, 청년 중심의 문화, 그리고 조밀한 도시 조직을 이룹니다. 이러한 요소들은 상징적인 가시성, 활발한 주변 경계, 수직적으로 계층화된 프로그램에 초점을 맞춘 디자인 전략을 이끌었습니다. 레드불을 성수동 안에서 움직임과 문화적 표현을 증폭시키는 새로운 거점으로 자리하게 했습니다.
The site features strong urban connectivity, youth-oriented culture, and a dense urban fabric. These elements guided a design strategy focused on symbolic visibility, active perimeter edges, and vertically layered programs. This approach positioned Red Bull as a new hub within Seongsu, amplifying movement and cultural expression.

익스트림 스포츠, F1 레이싱, 클럽 이벤트 등을 통해 도전, 젊음, 역동적인 움직임의 정신을 구현해왔습니다.
Red Bull is a brand powered by speed, energy, and a spirit of challenge.
Through extreme sports, Formula 1 racing, and club events, it has embodied the values of youth, boldness, and dynamic movement.

구조(Structure): 레이싱 기어의 단단하고 노출된 구조적 강인함에서 영감을 받아, 다이아그리드 프레임과 기울어진 코어를 통해 구조적 강인함과 대담한 기하학적 형태를 강조합니다.
재료(Material): 레드불의 기술력을 상징하듯 질감, 속도, 역동적인 명확성을 강조합니다.
프로그램(Program): 에너지가 넘치는 공간 구성은 레드불의 DNA에 담긴 사회적 교류와 퍼포먼스 문화를 반영합니다.
Structure: Inspired by the exposed, robust strength of racing gear, the diagrid frame and tilted core emphasize structural resilience and bold geometric form.

Design
매스는 지하철 접근성, 용적률·건폐율 규제, 그리고 브랜드 아이덴티티 같은 부지의 조건에서 출발했습니다. 초기 볼륨은 FAR/BCR 제약에 맞춰 설정되었으며, 이후 각을 주어 긴장감을 만들고 띄워 올려 레드불의 역동적인 에너지를 표현했습니다. 기울어진 저층부는 노출된 구조와 함께 긴장감을 더하고, 수직적인 제스처로 상승하는 움직임을 강조했습니다.
The massing was developed in response to site conditions such as subway proximity, FAR/BCR regulations, and brand identity. The initial volumes were set according to these regulatory constraints, then angled and lifted to express Red Bull’s dynamic energy. The tilted lower levels, combined with the exposed structure, add a sense of tension and emphasize an upward, vertical gesture.
이 입면도들은 주변 맥락과의 관계 속에서 프로젝트의 비례감과 형태적 긴장감을 명확히 보여줍니다.
These elevations clarify the project’s proportions and formal tension in relation to context.
최종 매스는 노출된 구조 시스템과 붉은 그리드를 통해 레드불의 브랜드 아이덴티티를 표현합니다.
기울어진 저층부는 흥미를 불러일으키고, 견고한 다이아그리드 프레임은 이를 극대화합니다.
밤이 되면 빛나는 건물과 붉은 대각선 프레임이 레드불의 에너지 넘치는 성격을 더욱 강조합니다.
The final mass expresses Red Bull’s brand identity through its exposed structural system and bold red grid.
The tilted lower levels create visual interest, while the solid diagrid frame amplifies this effect.
At night, the illuminated building and red diagonal elements further highlight Red Bull’s energetic character.
Program
이 프로그램은 레드불의 역동적이고 창의적이며 전략적인 다층적 정체성을 반영해 수직적으로 구성되었습니다. 저층부는 문화·브랜드 경험을 통해 대중과의 상호작용을 활성화하고, 중층부에는 운영 오피스가 배치되며, 상층부는 콘텐츠 제작과 독점적인 소셜 프로그램에 집중합니다. 이러한 상승형 존 구성은 기능성과 상징적인 상승감을 모두 강화합니다.
The program is vertically organized to reflect Red Bull’s layered identity—dynamic, creative, and strategic. The lower floors activate public interaction through cultural and brand-related experiences. Mid-levels house operational offices, while upper floors focus on content creation and exclusive social programs. This ascending zoning enhances both functionality and symbolic momentum.
Structure
중앙의 철근콘크리트 코어와 슬래브 시스템이 수직 지지 역할을 하며, 이를 유리 커튼월이 감싸 외피를 형성합니다. 구조는 미세한 스케일의 다이아그리드 외피에서 더 큰 다이아그리드 프레임으로 점차 확장되며, 이중 레이어의 파사드로 마무리했습니다.
A central reinforced concrete core and slab system provide vertical support, enclosed by a glass curtain wall to form the exterior skin. The structure evolves from a fine-scale diagrid exoskeleton to a larger diagrid frame, culminating in a double-layered façade.
다이아그리드 시스템은 단순한 구조적 표현을 넘어, 공간적 경험을 만들어냅니다. 기울어진 프레임과 계층적인 기하학은 내부의 경계를 정의하고, 역동적인 그림자와 시각적 깊이를 만들어냅니다.
이 구조는 곧 건축이 되어 공간의 흐름을 이끌고, 시선을 프레이밍하며, 레드불의 대담한 에너지와 엔지니어드 명확성을 담아냅니다.
The diagrid system is not only a structural expression but a spatial experience. Slanted frames and layered geometries define interior boundaries, generate dynamic shadows, and create visual depth.
The structure becomes architecture—guiding spatial flow, framing views, and embodying Red Bull’s identity of bold energy and engineered clarity.

The office floors foster a balance between focus and creativity. Views framed by the diagrid façade create a sense of structure while maintaining openness and connection to the city.

Seen from the subway, the Red Bull HQ acts as a landmark—its bold form and structural rhythm immediately capturing attention. The diagonal energy of the diagrid façade creates a powerful visual connection with the city’s flow.
